Skylark Media Group has launched Suttons Seeds’ series of ‘how to…’ videos. These richly visual and persuasive high definition videos boost sales by showing customers how to use Suttons products. The videos add to Skylark Media Group’s portfolio of videos created for a number of companies and organisations from small independents to government bodies.
Suttons Seeds already had two ‘how to’ films on their website using a member staff as a presenter, what they now needed was professional video content for their new marketing platform, Suttons TV.
Skylark director, Jo Haywood was asked to help. “Suttons Seeds brought me in because of my track record working on programmes such as Gardener’s World for the BBC. I had already filmed with some of the BBC’s top celebrity gardening presenters.”
“When Suttons showed me the types of videos that they liked, it became apparent that they wanted a presenter who was warm and engaged with the audience. Rather than go to the expense of hiring a known celebrity, Suttons decided to use a presenter with local news experience.”
Initially, Jo was asked to produce one video but within a matter of weeks, Suttons decided that the economies of scale made it worth their while to commission a series of 11 short films using the same presenter and made with a similar theme and style in mind. Filming for all 11 videos was done over the course of two days, a challenging experience for even the most skilled film-maker. “Each one was 2-3 minutes long and the presenter had to have a script, had to rehearse with a number of props and lots of different products,” Jo explained.
To help with the workload, Jo used two cameras on set, producing two angles of every single shot. A wide shot was used on the main camera. This was kept predominantly on the presenter and the second camera was used for close ups. The whole piece was shot in HD. Jo added: “The whole quality is lifted because of the high definition and it would not look out of place on Gardeners’ World. I am very happy with the results.”
Skylark worked with Suttons on their key search terms. One the video were scripted and filmed, they were named so that the videos would appear high on search engine results.
“I had a lot of pressure to present films that were of a particular style and quality,” said Michele Roberts, Retail Marketing Manager of Suttons Seeds. “Skylark Media were able to put me at ease and their experience and knowledge have ensured we are on track to present 11 very professional videos.”
You can now view the videos on Skylark’s You Tube Channel.
